Claire Melia: 'Language matters: Contemporary discursive constructions of alcohol use.' This talk draws upon research surrounding the prominent discourses used to account for alcohol use across a range of contexts. Analysis considers the impact of these constructions in attributing blame and the associated stigma for alcohol use issues.

The Faculty is ambitious to be recognised for the high quality of its education, research, knowledge exchange and engagement. Building on a strong performance in REF2014, much of the research activity in the Faculty is centred on Unit of Assessment (UoA) 17 Business and Management Studies, UoA 18 Law and UoA 20 Social Work and Social Policy. Our impactful research and knowledge exchange consistently addresses issues of social justice, equality, diversity and inclusion, law and society, sustainability and prosperity through active engagement with business and a range of private, public and voluntary organisations.
